There is an adage that says beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. This actually refers to one's physical appearance. However beauty is much deeper than what you can see physically. What then is beauty? A dictionary definition of beauty is a combination of qualities that appeal to one's aesthetic senses and sight - such as colour, shape or form.
A woman's physical beauty is seen in her dressing, make ups and her hair braids and so on. Proverbs 31v30 has this to say, "Charm and grace are deceptive, and beauty is vain (because it is not lasting) - but a woman who reverently and worshipfully fears the LORD she shall be praised."
A God fearing woman is beautiful from the inside out. A woman brave, strong and emboldened by Christ in her. So the inner beauty of a woman talks about her inner strength or strength of character, that attracts others to her, in her sphere of influence - for example, goodwill, favour, wisdom and understanding heart.
Luke 2v40 reads "And the child (Jesus) grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom (Godly wisdom) and the grace (the favour and spiritual blessing ) of God was resting upon him. This goes to say, any woman moving under the grace of God for any task, must possess inner beauty. This is needful. 1 Peter 3v4 admonishes us that our beauty should not be an external adorning of ourselves such as braiding of hair, putting on of gold, jewelry or clothing worn, rather let it be an inward adorning of the hidden man of the heart, with imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit.(which is very precious in the sight of God). Verse 5 goes on to say a humble and submissive woman is beautiful on the inside. 1 Samuel 2v26 sounds the note aswell - saying "Now the boy samuel grew and was in favour both with the LORD and with man" Meaning your inner beauty positions you for favour with God.
